Concerns over the Destruction of Historical Monuments in BadghisProvince

Eighty percent of historical monuments in Badghis need restoration and reconstruction.

Some cultural activists in Badghis, expressing concern over the destruction of historical sites and unauthorized excavations of ancient artifacts in this province, say that Badghis has long been neglected by the government. According to these cultural activists, the preservation and maintenance of ancient artifacts not only reflect the country’s historical identity but can also be a good source of income.

Meanwhile, the head of information and culture in Badghis says he has shared his proposal for the reconstruction of monuments and historical sites with the Ministry of Information and Culture. According to statistics from the Badghis Information and Culture Department, more than 50 historical monuments and artifacts are registered with this department, and over 30 individuals were arrested this year in connection with unauthorized and illegal excavations of ancient artifacts.
